The 3rd edition of #WomenOfPureWonder, a coffee table book chronicles the stories of inspirational women from across the country, who have emerged as game changers in their chosen field. The book featured 50 extraordinary women in ‘Women Of Pure Wonder’ by Vodafone Foundation India was launched at Shangri La hotel in New Delhi on Tuesday , 8th March ,the eve of International Women’s Day.
The list of women includes some of the most popular women who have worked hard to strive in their chosen field , one of the women being Retired Justice Leila Seth , who became the first woman Chief Justice of Delhi High Court , and one of the few women who started her career in law, which was considered predominantly as a male profession.
Then there was Arunima Sinha , whose incident shook whole india, when in the year 2011 , she was pushed from a running train by thieves and she had lost one of her legs, following which her one leg was amputated from the knee but that could not deter her from following her passion , she continued to work hard with determination and perseverance , and she became the first amputee to climb Mount Everest. Not only that she has already climbed 5 peaks till now.
And the list goes on of such wonderful women ( Ananda Shankar , Roshni Nadar , Malvika Iyer, Sonali Khan , Sanchaita Raju etc), who with their strong will held destiny in their hands and followed their pursuits with vigour, they were felicitated by Bjp President Satish Upadhyay and Vodafone Foundation Team .
The programme featured Classical duet performance by Kathak veteran Padma Shree Shovana Narayana and Pt. Anuradha Pal , Tabla virtuoso. It was attended by more than 300 persons and after the event was over , everyone was given a copy of book by vodafone foundation.
